Awake before the sun, she embraced the world without morning’s full fire, contrary to her nature. She made tea then took a half-horizontal pose in the hammock. Settling back, the tea spilled, rolling off the fur onto the brick floor. Precious came to see if it was edible and/or delicious.

The sky played its opera. Disinterested, she asked, “What fun is it to be languid in the morning without someone to make breakfast?” After pondering this for as long as bearable, hoping Precious would assume human form, or some form that could make french toast, she started singing.
